History
The Argonavti hotel was opened in 1976. It was known for its plastic yellow roof that was leaking, and the concrete clock that was never on time(source). Besides the rooms, there was a restaurant, a pastry shop, a pub and a night club. Already in the 80s, the story was close to its end and ended with the flood in Nova Gorica.
The Perla hotel was built where the Argonavti hotel once stood. Besides the standard hotel facilities, they also offered a casino. With a complete renovation of the hotel in 2001, Perla became “the biggest casino-entertainment center of its kind in Europe, built after the American model that offers accomodations, restaurants, a lounge, a night club, a wellness center, conference rooms and more.”(source). With later additions of rooms and apartments, Perla today stands as the biggest hotel in Slovenia and the biggest casino in Europe.
Location
Perla is located in the northern part of Nova Gorica, towards Solkan. Access is possible by car and parking is free for guests. You can also make a reservation for a drive from and to the casino, which you have to pay for yourself. The train station is located 7 km from the Perla casino, there are also bus lines available that stop next to the Perla casino roughly every twenty minutes during the week, and much less frequently during the weekend.

On the roof of Perla, there is a Sky Beach, a beach with two massage pools and lounge chairs. The conference center Perla offers four fully equipped halls that fit between 20 and 280 people and an event hall for 320 people. There are also 6 bars and four restaurants.
